I know Leon has heard this story, but few others likely have...
A 1,000,000 years ago when I was a Punk-Ass kid with more smarts than money, I was asked to set up at a Coin Show as a "Guest Token Baseball Card Dealer"!
A Coin Dealer brought me a STACK of Greiner's - a complete set plus a couple of duplicates if memory serves, but it may not...
We couldn't find them in "The Big Book" as only prices for Tharp's were listed.
I tried to explain that Tharp's and York's and Sweetman's and Greiner's, and Yuengling's, etc. were all essentially the same set - just different advertisers like Tobacco cards.
But as I said, I was only a Punk-Ass kid trying to deal with a Grown Man!
Anyway, we could NOT agree on a price for Lot, but he sold me the only duplicates that he had - the McGraw and Speaker that I still have today.
I lost touch with the Coin Dealer and have NO IDEA what happened to the rest of the Greiner's cards that he had.
Nobody wanted those UGLY BLACK & WHITE cards anyway...
It was this "Near Find" that brought me to NET54....
