I'm amazed ast the "britishness" of 19th century cards. All the Tobin Lithographs are saying British things. The N28 Anson looks like a British army officer stationed in India in the middle of the century.

Ang Lee's "Ride With the Devil" (about young men in Kansas or Misouri during the Civil War) uses an interesting cross between American and British speech (he's Chinese...)
