JulieBob drove me to the Cow Palace yesterday, hung around and talked to Terry Knouse untill his allergies forced him outside. I bought an SGC 60 Connor, a ditto Standard Biscuit Jackson, an Old Judge Mickey Welch, which someone thoughtfully wrote his won-lost record all over the back of, and a slightly battered N28 Keefe. When Bob saw the cards, al he wanted to know was how much I'd spent. I told him half--which was true! Terry took a check for half, and I'll pay off the rest slowly (we need a new car).
All cards mean to someone who isn't interested in them is $$$. The only card Bob ever liked was a Goodwin Round Album Kelly. "Gee, that's a beautiful card," he said. Kelly being arguably the handsomest man in the last 150 years to be photographed, lithographed or woodcut (possible competition: Matty in high school), he even grabs the attention of non-card lovers.
