jay behrensI am all for "one and done" with HOF voting. A player's career is not like a fine wine, it doesn't get better with age. You either belong in the HOF, or you don't. And 5 years is more than enough time to figure out how he measures up to contemporaries. What makes a player a HOFer 10 years after he retires, but not worthy 5 years after he retires? It makes no sense. One and done would also help stem the tide of the watering down of the HOF.
Those outside looking in that I think belong; Rice, Lee Smith, Santo, Sandberg and Jack Morris. Dawson is iffy.
