Default First Appearance Of a Baseball Card In a Movie?

In "The Natural," there's a scene showing baseball cards being printed. The movie is set in 1939. The cards, which all show Robert "Roy Hobbs" Redford, appear to be a hybrid of the 1940 and 1941 Play Ball sets, but with color photography, which I don't believe existed on cards in 1941.
