Default 33 Goudey 53 Ruth GAI 7 / PSA 7 probable fraud

Posted By: cmoking

Currently listed is a 1933 Goudey 53 Ruth GAI 7.

53 Ruth GAI 7 Probably Fraud

The auction looks innocent enough, but if you check the seller's feedback (3456 feedback score, 98.6% positive), you'll see the seller sells cell phones and books.

You'll also notice that he has the number of the card incorrect on the title (57 instead of 53).

But the evidence that this is fraud shows up in another auction of his - a 1952 Topps Mantle at this link:

52 Topps Mantle

That auction has been ended. The title was for a GAI 8, the card in the scan is a PSA Authentic card that sold recently on ebay. The card's image was obviously lifted and the seller (or whoever hijacked his account) posted the wrong info.

When I hit it up, there is a section where it says "See More Great Items from this seller". one of the items listed is a link to the 1933 Goudey Ruth...and the picture on that item is the PSA 7 card that sold on ebay recently - where it has the certification number covered up by the real seller. If you click on that link, the picture has been changed to a GAI 7 picture.

Along with the Ruth, is a 1915 Cracker Jack Joe Jackson that is from the same seller as the Ruth - with the cert. covered up.

I emailed ebay last night regarding the PSA image - that it was clearly lifted. This morning the seller had changed the image on the auction, but the old image still shows up in the links.
