JoannI think the competition is actually to see who can get an old-looking T206 Wagner that they could possibly pass off as real for a few hundred more.
Anyone remember a few months ago when one buyer bought one of these reprints, and then also paid a lot for a T206 Heine Wagner in a PSA holder that had a mislabel with T206 Honus Wagner on the flip? Anyone ever see that come around as some kind of T206 PSA Honus auction?
Sorry - didn't mean to hijack the thread, but that's why I think some of these get such high prices - they look beat up enough that a buyer might think they can fool someone with it.
