Default 1916 Holmes to Homes

Posted By: jims

I was recently doing a little research and came upon an ad in the 1916 Washington Post for Holmes to Homes Bread. I presume this would establish Washington as the source for these cards (previously unknown). An interesting contest was mentioned in the ad. "BASEBALL OUTFIT CONTEST, We're offering valuable prizes, such as a complete Baseball Outfit for a team of ten, glove and catchers' outfits, etc. for the return of a complete set of 200 baseball players' pictures, one of which is packed with every loaf of our 10c bread. Further particulars will be found on the circular accompanying it." I wonder if anyone ever completed the set? If other premiums were offered in the same way, it may be the reason the cards are so scarce.
