My theory is that the Piedmont cards were the very first T206's to be printed.
And, after completing an all-Piedmont set of 518 cards, I noticed that when they
printed the subsequent brands (SC, Sov, etc), they must have used a richer Blue
ink. If you look at all the blue colored Piedmonts in the 150 Series you will notice
a pale Blue background.
When you look at the 350 series cards (even Piedmont) the Blue colors are richer.
Chase (portrait), Burchell, Clymer, Knabe, Knight, etc, etc. come to mind.
