Rich Klein Bruce is correct -- the better conditioned cards one can afford will bring you the best returns long term. However, as has been pointed out, specific instances can be either very positive or very negative. But, if you are willing to wait 20 years, then just as the stock market has been for that period, you will do very well.
Somehow, though, I don't think one specific high grade goudey card is the best barometer of long term value. We believe in a diverse long-term view.
