Bill Heitman did groundbreaking work but he understandably missed a few things. In addition to (probably) miscategorizing Ames, Doyle, Schulte as 150/350s, Heitman's The Monster improperly designated a half-dozen or so 350-only and 460-only subjects (which I recount in my manuscript) as 350/460s.
I think Heitman's The Monster and Lipset's Encyclopedia, whose checklist largely if not entirely mimics that in The Monster, are the main sources of the long-standing misperception about Ames, Doyle and Schulte.
