Default What percent of your life savings is in Baseball Cards?

Posted By: LetGoBucs

I have financial spreadsheets that track my savings and investments but there isn't a column or row for baseball cards.

If I compare what I think my cards could be sold for in a quick sale then its about 5% of what my current savings & investments are worth. If I took my time selling it...put the rare items in a good auction, sold off the desireable items on ebay, and then the rest to a dealer then perhaps its 7 or 8%.

I think your better off never counting things like baseball cards, stamps, coins, antiques, cars, etc as part of your net worth. That provides you with a cushion and also prevents you from "cheating" on your savings.
