Default Kenesaw Mountain Landis signed typed letter w/ baseball centennial logo (TRADED)

Posted By: Anonymous

TRADED -- NO LONGER AVAILABLE

I'm open to considering any and all trade ideas for this, but I'd most like to trade it for a graded, pre-war HOF'er card.

If the letter looks familiar to you, it may be because I recently acquired it from Dan Bretta who posted it here just last week. A bit more explanation... Last September, just for the fun of it, I began a project to try to trade my way from a dime-a-dozen card to a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle. I started with a raw 1986 Topps #418 Alan Knicely (a pathetic card if there ever was one) and have since made my way to this letter. If interested, you can read more about my project here...

The letter, dated July 27, 1939, is written on the commisioner's letterhead and includes the baseball centennial logo on the bottom right corner. It's addressed to the national adjutant of Disabled American Veterans, Vivian D. Corbly (kind of an unfortunate name for a fella), and expresses Landis' regrets for being unable to attend the organization's annual convention.

From what I can tell, signed Landis letters typically sell in the $350-$550 range. The signature on this is clean as a whistle and stacks up very well against most examples I've been able to find... and I've yet to see an example on a letter that includes the centennial logo.
