Default Strange Exhibit

Posted By: boxingcardman

In the 1920s ESCO was known to scratch out or paper over printed information. Five of the PC back baseball cards have labels slapped over the name and team data after trades (Hornsby, Frisch, Peckinpaugh, Cobb and Rouch [sic]). The 1926 Harry Greb (boxing) simply slapped a label over the picture when he lost his title. Card backs from the 1920s boxing sets (they had bio and stat backs) similarly have information obviously filled in at times. Doesn't surprise me that someone just said "WTF" and scratched out some offending info on the plates of these cards, probably on an interim basis.
