Stearns was a tough player. Was on crap teams but still was a decent catcher. Believe me, I'd trade D'Arnaud and Plewecki tomorrow for John Stearns.
The most inexplicable player in that line up to me was Stevie Henderson. Thought he had All Star potential but it never materialized. Great tools. I never remember him being injured but he never panned out. Was sort of like he just couldn't escape the bad juju of the Seaver trade.
Seaver was traded for Henderson, Doug Flynn, Pat Zachery and WHO??? Outfielder who went no where fast.
