I picked up Bill Rigney's 1947 New York Giants home run ring. This is the perfect complement to my 1956 Smoky Burgess Cincinnati Redlegs ring. Although both clubs provided these rings to players and team personnel, the New York Giants only had only had 16 players who actually hit home runs in 1947. The 1956 Redlegs only had 14 contributing players. Both Rigney (17 HRs) and Burgess (12 HRs) were among this small group of players who actually contributed to their team's total.
I would be curious if anyone knows of any public or private collections that feature examples of both rings. I know that the National Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum at Cooperstown is lacking a Reds ring.
For those of you who love trivia, Larry Jansen was the only player to have been awarded a ring by each of these clubs.
