No shade on Hester, as he's likely the best return man ever, but I wonder if they put him in because the NFL is quickly making that an obsolete part of the game and the window has basically closed for that position.
I don't remember Eric Metcalf getting much consideration for the HOF, and he was also a great all-around back, along with being one of the top 1-3 return men of his era for a lot of years. Hester doesn't have much on his resume besides returning kicks.
I'm sure Antonio Gates will get in soon, but how does someone who ranks as the following All-Time at his position, not get in immediately? 1st in TD's, 3rd in Yards, 3rd in Receptions.
Is it simply because he was overshadowed at times by Tony Gonzalez and Gronk during his career?
