It's funny, but I was having this exact conversation over dinner with my girlfriend. We stopped on the way out, checked the mail and I had a '68 Clemente that I had purchased on eBay waiting in the mailbox.
Anyway she knows nothing about baseball or baseball cards. She's Persian and just moved to the US a little over a year ago. I brought the card into the restaurant with me because I didn't want to leave it in the truck. I was explaining to her who Clemente was, what he accomplished, how he died, MLB waiving his HOF waiting period, etc. Anyway, my opinion is that he was probably about done. Maybe one more season max.
