As a Yankee fan a part of me hopes they recuse themselves from the Otani sweepstakes and try to use their excess of pool money on Maitan and other promising prospects.

I'm having a hard time seeing the big upside with Otani. He's already injury prone, his bat seems decent, but not exactly dominating at the Japanese League level (think Ichiro or Matsui). His pitching seems to be his biggest upside, but again, not dominating (or durable) at the level of Darvish or Tanaka when they were made available to the U.S. market.

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see why everybody is going gaga over this guy, other then the two way player crap, which will be nothing more then a novelty and rarely instituted once he makes it over here and suffers an injury or two.
