This thread is over 2 years old and the prices have gone up since then. For example, a BGS 8 was going for around $4000 - $4500 around the time this thread started, and today it is fetching $6000 - $6500. If you want more specifics, then you would have to use VCP (or you can use Card Target - it's free, but the site does have a few problems).
There are a lot of collectors who want the 101, but don't have the funds. This is the reason why low-grade examples, like the BGS 3 you just pointed out, get a lot of action whenever they show up online.
