Default Collectibles Insurance Agency

Posted By: John

I just signed up this past year after Ben's fiasco. Most of my valuable cards are in a safety deposit box, but I felt that it could not hurt to protect my collection from theft, fire, flooding (after the contents of a neighbors safety deposit box were totally destroyed by flooding two years ago), etc. Their rates are extremely low compared to a rider on a typical homeowners policy and as stated previously their paperwork reads easily.

A second thought relative to collections. If you care what happens to your cards after you are gone be sure to include an ammendment in your will. If your executor has no idea what a T206 is, or worse yet, who Ty Cobb is, chances are someone that is not a relative will profit from your lifetime of collecting. In my will I have left a detailed list of cards and values so that the people I have left my collection to are not interested at least they can receive fair compensation. I can update my inventory yearly with my lawyer.
