AdamI am working on the T206 set in a low grade (i.e. not much, if anything, above a PSA 3). I plan to be done in approximately 1 more year . . . except for the "biggest 2," which I have no plans to pick up.
My approach is to obtain, in a PSA slab, every card that is not classified as a true "common." Currently, I have every card that falls in this category except for the Chase Holding Trophy card, 3 of the 4 Cobb cards, the Southern Leaguers (I only have 3 SLs slabbed so far), and the "big 4."
As to commons, my approach is to obtain and keep all of these raw. I pick them up here and there and, while it's been a while since I counted, I think I have around 250 or so.
I plan to make my largest T206 purchase, which will be the Plank card, sometime this coming summer if one of the auction houses puts up a nice PSA 1 beater. (I sold my Magie to start saving for the Plank, and plan to pick up another Magie once the Plank is up on the wall in my living room.)
