Several of you have contacted me regarding these color printing errors in this set. So, I decided to post this thread as a starting base
of info for this printing phenomena.
Theoretically, all 252 cards in this set can be found with what I refer to as a SLATE background. Typically, though, any cards in the set
that were printed with the GREEN, light BLUE, ORANGE, and YELLOW pastel colors are candidates to be found with a SLATE background.
Here is an uncut complete sheet of the 3rd Series (cards #4, 74 - 108). The 17 cards on this sheet which have SLATE backgrounds are
the more plentiful Lo #s cards with this color printing error.
Duke Snider, Dick Sisler, and Larry Doby are examples of Hi #s with SLATE backgrounds.

Also, I have seen Paige and Kellner.
OK guys....this is a first start on confirming these elusive, silly SLATE cards. The High #'s are extremely rare with SLATE backgrounds.
