They did it to Boston last year. The difference was the extent of the illicit activity the Braves took part in. They offered Drew Waters a new car to sign for below slot, they worked with the agent of Robert Puason to strike a deal with him as a 14-year old and put together package deals for the prospects they lost. They were basically stripped of any player they acquired illegally, and then spanked for meddling with the Waters signing. Penalties might be stiff but hey, the message here is don't break the rules. The only penalty that I thought was harsh was the lifetime.ban on Coppolella, but that makes me believe there's much more to his doings than what was made public. Dude was dirty as they come. Very unfortunate because this time last year he was looking like a genius on Theo Epstein levels for his work to elevate the farm system.
