I wouldn't consider scarcity a factor in making something a classic. Design is the key factor.
'15 Cracker Jack would not be considered scarce, but it's certainly a classic. A '65 Mustang is a classic, but it's certainly not tough to find. Tons of other examples, none of which owe their status to primarily being scarce or rare.
