Default Pre-war autographs

Posted By: Phil B

I've got a Lou Gehrig autograph that I am just about certain was not signed by Lou Gehrig. My research and instinct tell me it's a secretarial signature very possibly his wife. I will have it authenticated one of these days.

My favorite though is an autograph of James Cool Papa Bell that I got in person as a kid when I happened to be sitting next to him in a hotel lobby in Cooperstown in the 1970's. I'm not sure I even knew who he was- but he seemed like an old ball player and so I asked for his autograph.
