John H.The audio version of The Glory of Their Times opens with Fred Snodgrass' lengthy story about Charles "Victory" Faust. Snodgrass, Hans Lobert, Sam Crawford, Chief Meyers, Rube Marquard, Lefty O'Doul, Rube Bressler, Jimmie Austin, Goose Goslin and Smoky Joe Wood's stories are priceless.
Anyone who doesn't own the CD or cassette version of the book should absolutely pick it up by any means possible. Imagine hearing the voices and stories of players who played at the turn of the last century. It's wonderful. I listen to it at least once a year.
