I would add that the 1931 Churchman smalls are far more difficult to obtain in NM-MT to Mint status. Just check out the PSA pop report to total graded with 15.6% PSA 8s for the 1931 Churchman smalls vs. the 1927 Churchman smalls at 30% respectively. The 1931 small set is more difficult in high grade for some reason and it is more elusive in my opinion than its 1927 counterpart.
You can't go wrong with any of the Churchman sets to get started in vintage golf cards. Those sell the most often on eBay and at auction. The Churchman large sets are tougher though so I recommend starting with the small sets to have more fun at first.
