davidcyclebackI had not heard that about the HOF photos. I have been told by people associated with museums that theft is an issue. To what size of an issue I don't know. I also know that a lot of donations end up in cardboard boxes in a back room. If you donate your grandpa's high school baseball photos and jersey to the Hall of Fame Museum they're probably not going to display them on the wall. Though your local library might.
It's coincideental this issue was brought up. My older sister (the one who bossed me around when I was kid) is an artist and just recently one of her works was purchased for the permanent collection of a museum. I saw her last night at my dad's 70th birthday party and asked if she worried about it being stolen. She said, "No. I've already been paid."
