Jack RichardsA few years ago, I asked SGC to convert to the newer cases a few cards that had been graded in the older cases. They wouldn't do it, saying that their standards for grading are higher now than they were then.
For example, they said that a card that graded "92 NM/MT+" in the old days was not necessarily a "92 NM/MT+ 8.5" today.
It seemed to me that once a NM/MT+ always a NM/MT+, although a NM/MT+ is now called an 8.5, but they didn't see it that way.
The lesson, I guess, is that if you buy an SGC card in an old holder, it might be a lower grade (using the current scale) than it appears to be.
