Default Football Rookies: Topps Chrome vs. Topps Chrome Refractor

Hi all.

I apologize in advance if this has already been covered. I tried "search", and nothing came up.

In collecting Hall of Fame (and future Hall of Fame rookies), I've come to a stumbling block regarding rookie cards of football players.

In basketball, it seems pretty clear, that even though the PSA registry lists the Chrome version as the official rookie card version for the player for registry purposes (ie. 2003 Topps Chrome Lebron James), that the population is a lot lower for the Refractor version, and therefore demands a much higher premium (Chrome has pop of 1250+ and a price of around $1000; while the refractor has a pop of 100+ and price around $3000).

But, in football, it is not so clear to me.
Let's take, for example: 2007 Topps Adrian Peterson, #TC181
Chrome: pop of 218; sold for $66
Chrome Refractor: pop of 124; sold for $83

So which one is the "better" one, especially for long-term future "holds"?

Thanks.
