You pose a very relevant question! I agree with you that postally-used cards should be graded in a more lenient manner when it comes to cancellation markings. It's an entirely different story if a pen stroke is so heavy that it affects the verso of a PC. When first issued, these items were fully intended to be utilized in this fashion. The grading of said should not suffer so tremendously as a result.
I do want to re-state that, as I am not a card (or in this case) postcard collector, my opinions/observances follow the course of logic rather than knowledge or experience. It never hurts to ask about topics of which you aren't fully informed.
