Default Greatest Pitchers Ever ?

Posted By: identify7

Certainly Games won and winning percentage are good yardsticks for pitching performance. But they rely a bit on the team that is behind you. that is a part of the reason that Johnson and Ryan stand out.

A pitcher tho, wins games by giving up fewer runs than his team scores. Two pitchers have lifetime ERAs under 2, Joss and Walsh.

This is where Johnson and Matty shine, both are just over 2.

But Johnson has it all. Wins, Ks, ERA, shutouts and more. There is just nobody second to him, in my estimation. Didn't somebody get over 500 wins? How did he do that?
