Well it is nice to see early scorecard sell that strong. But It is not even a regular season game it is an exhibition. I have been saying for some time that professional scorecards before 1880 are ridiculously scarce. Total extant is less than 200 and maybe less than 100. National Assn and early National Leauge 1876 to 1879 scorecards make very few appearances in Auction catalogs and private collections.
And yet when I open my scorecard album and look at a game that George Wright played in I know I have a piece of baseball history. So in that sense I am glad prices have been low and I can afford to pick up scorecards when they come up. But it seems that the market is waking up my hope is that will bring more of the few that exist out for more collectors to enjoy.
