James- with the success in our last auction of doing an "open-ended" extended time it will probably mean a late finish again. As you well know auction houses work for consignors and I am quite sure a late finish is fine with them. We believe this is the fairest way to run an auction, though it's certainly debatable. If someone wants to bid on any item they will be able too. The last one finished around 3am CST and I would expect this one to be similar...OF course there are no guarantees.
The open ended rule means that you can still bid on a lot, in extended bidding, even if you did not bid on that lot before extended bidding started. Sorry I can't give an exact answer. BTW, a Canadian had the last bid in our last auction so you can blame our friends to the north for that late finish. take care
