No, I'm mostly trying to collect the earliest card/photo of each MLB HOFer recognizing that quite a few are simply going to be too cost prohibitive and/or nearly impossible to find (Ruth, Cy Young, etc.). I guess you can call me a HOF "Rookie card" collector, but I really love the oddball stuff! I'd take a '67 Reds Team Issue PC of Johnny Bench any day over his '68 Topps.

Best of luck on your journey! Enjoy the hunt! Instead of grabbing whatever you can find to build up your collection quickly, try seeking out a specific card with that player's autograph. It'll be fun to try to nail down a needle in a haystack. Although, I must admit, everything you've picked up so far looks to have GREAT centering and registration, so make sure not to compromise. There are some cards in my collection that I simply can't stand to look at because of their condition flaws (despite being very rare). I just "needed" the card to fill a hole in my collection (on paper).
