Default 1967 Rose Bowl Tray/Plate help - solved

Hello,

I just bought this silver-plated (?) tray/plate and have questions about it. The tray measures about 12 1/4 inches across. On the front, etched into the metal, it says, "1967 Rose Bowl Purdue VS U.S.C.". It then has the Chrysler company logo and says, "Chrysler Corporation".

I have Googled this and can't find any info about it. The closest thing I found was a tray from 1969. I think these were given to players on each team, am I right? If so, then how can I find out how many were originally given away?

There is some gunk on the front and tarnish on the back. Should I try to clean this off or leave it as it is? If I were to clean it, what should I use?

Because of the tarnish, I can not see if there is a manufacturers name on the back. If there is, do you think they might have records concerning how many of these were made or would they have been thrown away?

Value of this piece? I don't collect this type of memorabilia but for the price, I couldn't pass it up.

Finally, sorry for the poor pictures.

Thanks in advance,

David

I left a message with the Purdue University Athletic Department and they just called me back. They spoke to a player from that team and he said players were given a choice as to what they could receive as a commemorative gift; a blazer, a watch, a tray or something else (they couldn't remember the fourth thing). So, this is an original gift given to a player from that team.

As far as the other questions, they didn't know.
