Guess it depends on how you look at it..

The different tints are certainly different printings. You don't need the red or B&W tints to make the sepia I don't think. So it is not circumstances of the printing process as you asked.

Most likely just a matter of what color ink they put on the press at the time of the printing.

In my eyes the Sepia, B&W and the reddish tint are three different sets to collect.

Think of the Exhibit Football cards that came in green, yellow, blue, red etc. or later reprint Exhibit sets, Pizza Royale and other sets issued in different colors/tints
