You are right that Matty, Cobb, and Chance are notoriously tough to find well centered. I would add Plank to that list as well. We know that the set was originally produced on one sheet, so in theory none should be more difficult than any other. But some players may have been more popular and saved more commonly than others. There is no doubt that Brown, Evers, and Chance are the toughest to find in nice shape - meaning Ex or better. In Ex/Mt or better the whole set is very tough, but those three are tougher than the rest.
