Thanks for the kudos regarding my 1949 LEAF (8-page) article in the OC (issue #9).

I've been meaning to ask Ted if he recalls whether the bright pink ones came out earlier or later than the more normal ones.

I've been trying to figure out if they had the nicer printing and went cheaper over time, or if it was bad at first and they gradually improved?

These cards were available in my neighborhood in early Spring of 1949. The 1st series were plentiful. Between 9 (or 10) kids my age we had over 1000 of these LEAF's.
We pooled our knowledge, and by comparing cards, we were able to figure out that 49 cards constituted a complete set (in this 1st series). LEAF skip-numbered these
cards, so there was no way that by yourself you could figure this out.

Now, to your question.....
with the exception of the Joe DiMaggio card, the colors were perfect on all the other cards we had. A few DiMaggio cards had a pale yellow background color, instead of
the normal green seen in my DiMag card pictured here.

Feel free to ask me any questions you may have regarding these 1949 LEAF's.
