Default What is the most valuable vintage sportscard collection worth

Posted By: Paul

Very interesting topic. If I had to choose between Larry Fritsch's collection and one of the top slabbed collections from relatively common sets, the choice would be easy. I'd take Fritsch's every time, and I suspect that almost everyone on this board would.

Which collection would actually sell for more is another issue. I tend to agree with Jay and the others who said that Fritsch's would sell for more. I assume he has squirrelled away all kinds of true rarities that would sell for a fortune in any condition. (Doesn't he still have a bunch of T206 Doyle variations?) But it is hard to overestimate the nuttiness of the folks who will pay $100K for a 33 Goudey Ruth or a 52 Topps Mantle. So I wouldn't bet much on the outcome of this contest.
