in 1941, Ted Williams was hitting .368 - finished at .406
in 1948, Stan Musial was hitting .370 - finished at .376
in 1956, Mickey Mantle was hitting .424 - finished at .353
in 1957, Ted Williams was hitting .453 WOW!!!- finished at .388
in 1977, Rod Carew was hitting .340 - finished at .388
in 1980, George Brett was hitting .255- finished at .390
in 1993, John Olerud was hitting .406 - finished at .363
in 1994, Tony Gwynn was hitting .415 - finished at .394

THIS YEAR, Dee Gordon is hitting .437 - ???????

It just seemed like .437 was a little high even for this early in the season.

This list is not meant to include every high finished average year - there were as slew of them higher than Mickey's 1956, but he was include because of the fast start...as was Olerud.

This list does have everyone after WWII who has finished the season at .380 or better.

By no means, am I saying that Dee Gordon is on a par with these other players, but he might actually have a chance at .400 if he stays healthy.
