I'll second the 54 Redheart set.
Also, the '64 Topps Giants set. Awesome photos and very reasonably priced. You can pick up a Mantle for <$40. I'm currently working on an autographed set of these, though I doubt I'll ever complete it.
And don't overlook the Fleer Ted Williams set.
