My son is four and I just spend a lot of time looking through stuff, and when I get items at yard sales he likes to see what I get. He likes to have his cards in boxes and plastic cases so he can carry them around. I give him real cheap stuff to play with. There is interest if you have some old wax or cards they can do what they want with. I think at a young age building an interest is the first step.
