Well, his first name was actually Johannes, and from wikipedia (which is always true
but in this case probably is):
Wagner was one of nine children. As a child, he was called Hans by his mother, which later evolved into Honus. "Hans" was also an alternate nickname during his major league career.
So it appears that Hah-nus is the way to go.
