I’ve convinced myself that it there is too much uncertainty around the authenticity of the ball (oh, and that it is already many $1,000’s out of my collecting budget

While I want to believe that all parties are telling the truth, the fact that one can still purchase a MLB authenticated, game used ball from the 2015 Post Season from the Jays for under $50, and remove the sticker, swapping it out for the actual ball (keeping said HR ball) and selling the dupe with the offered after-the-fact notarized statement - I just can’t feel comfortable.
Here’s my 2015 Post Season game ball from the Jays. I paid $37 for it 6 months ago.
