Hi Jeff, we didn't do an awful lot of touring on any of our trips there, preferring a restful stay with short outings.
Hyannis seemed pretty busy and lively, in some ways the most "modern" town we visited, predictably upscale. There is
(was, anyway) a card shop at one end of town, but, at the time at least (maybe three-four years ago), it carried mostly
"shiny stuff" and recent-manufacture memorabilia (plaques, &c'), and their inventory of vintage was mostly post-war
and in poor condition.
Sorry, can't provide any hotel recommendations -- we always stayed at a friend's mansion ("cottage" by Cape standards).
We would recommend late July to mid-August for your visit -- best weather and Cape Cod League in action.
