I think 99% of the re-emerging Halper Items have experienced a "price collapse" since that sale. The Sotheby's sale occurred at the peak of the hobby's high prices. And virtually everything in that auction sold for an insanely inflated price... even at the time.
So there was nowhere to go but down (even if the economy didn't tank).
