Default Impact of Net 54 on SCP/Sothebys

Posted By: Tim Newcomb

I haven't bothered to look myself at many of the prices, but the lot of 21 T207 I had marked before Ryan's post went for about $50 a card, which I thought was quite low given the number of scarcities it had.

I'm sure there were many healthy prices-- but even if only SOME lots went lower than expected, the house has reason to be concerned. Several people in this thread stated flatly they did not bid again specifically because of the debacle--who knows how many others did the same? That is lost business-- any auction house that paid no attention would be just stupid. The next time SCP auctions something, I'm sure there will be some folks eager to remind board members about what happened to Ryan, so it's not going to end here. Sotheby's may be so big they don't care, but SCP would be crazy not to take note--

Incidentally I thought it showed a total lack of class (if there were any doubts) that nobody from SCP had the guts to post any response to the threads about Ryan's photo.
