Perhaps a case of collectors truly buying the card, not the grade, although this would be an extreme case, no doubt.
On a smaller scale, this
PSA 4.5 Turkey Red Cobb sold for a bit more than this
PSA 5 example. Both nice cards for the grade, but the PSA 4.5 looked a little cleaner and sharper (ie. collectors buying the card).
We've seen some interesting results in this auction. I guess you're going to see some anomalies when you have old men spending large amounts of green on pictures of dead men on cardboard. And it's 4:43 am on the East coast.
